of Baltimore, if such person resides therein, upon the consent of the
department of welfare. No such person shall be detained for more
than [three] seven days THREE DAYS WHO COMMITS HIMSELF
BECAUSE OF HIS MENTAL CONDITION OR FOR MORE
THAN SEVEN DAYS WHO COMMITS HIMSELF BECAUSE
OF ALCOHOLISM after having given notice of his or her de-
sire and intention to leave such institution unless such person shall
in the meantime have been legally committed upon and after due
notice to him or her on the request of his or her relatives or friends,
in accordance with Section 31 of this article regulating the com-
mitment and detention of the insane or the alcoholic in hospitals and
asylums; nor shall any person be received or detained as a voluntary
patient whose mental condition OR ALCOHOLISM is such, or be-
comes such, that such person cannot comprehend the act of voluntary
commitment, or be able to request his or her discharge, or give con-
tinuous assent to detention. Every such voluntary patient so admitted
shall be reported to the Department of Mental Hygiene as provided in
cases legally committed, and shall be further reported to the Depart-
ment of Mental Hygiene with a statement of the mental condition
or the alcoholism of said person at the end of each three months of
said patient's residence in the institution to which he or she has
requested admission, and when discharged therefrom a copy of this
section shall be read or exhibited to every person requesting admission
to any institution in accordance with its provisions.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1964.

(Senate Bill 28)
AN ACT to add new Sections 94 to 100, inclusive, to Article 75 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and 1963 Supplement),
title "Pleadings, Practice and Process at Law", to follow imme-
diately after Section 93 thereof, and to be under the new subtitle
"Bases of Personal Jurisdiction Over Persons Outside This State",
relating generally to the jurisdiction of courts of this State over
persons and corporations doing acts within this State, and to
service of process outside the State on persons and corporations
over which courts of this State have jurisdiction.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Sections 94 to 100, inclusive, be and they are hereby added
to Article 75 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and
1963 Supplement), title "Pleadings, Practice and Process at Law", to
follow immediately after Section 93 thereof, and to be under the new
subtitle "Bases of Personal Jurisdiction Over Persons Outside This
State", and to read as follows:
