(Senate Bill 167)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 700A (a)
of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1963 Supple-
ment) , title "Crimes and Punishments", sub-title "Places of Refor-
mation and Punishment", sub-heading "Department of Correction"
to amend the law relating to the work release program to delete
a limitation, according to the length of sentence, on the eligibility
of prisoners to participate in the work release program.

Section 1.. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 700A (a) of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1963 Supplement), title "Crimes and Punishments", sub-
title "Places of Reformation and Punishment", sub-heading "Depart-
ment of Correction", be and the same is hereby repealed and re-
enacted to read as follows:

700A.

(a) The Department of Correction is authorized and directed to
establish a "work release" program under which prisoners sentenced
to [terms of not more than five years in] an institution under the
jurisdiction of said Department may be granted the privilege of
leaving actual confinement during necessary and reasonable hours
for the purpose of working at gainful private employment in this
State. Such program may also include, under appropriate conditions,
release for the purpose of seeking such employment.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1964.

(Senate Bill 30)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments. Section 61 of
Article 17 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title
"Clerks of Courts", subtitle "Clerks of Circuit Courts and Superior
Court of Baltimore City", amending the law concerning the fur-
nishing of plats for subdivisions in order to require that an addi-
tional plat be furnished to the clerk of the court and by him sent
to the supervisor of assessments in the county or Baltimore City
in which the subdivision is located.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 61 of Article 17 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition), title "Clerks of Courts", subtitle "Clerks of Circuit
Courts and Superior Court of Baltimore City", be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
