(House Bill 664)
AN ACT to add a new Section 248A to the Code of Public Local Laws
of Harford County (1957 Edition, being Article 13 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Harford County," to fol-
low immediately after Section 248 thereof and to be under the
new subtitle "Fortune Telling," making it a crime to tell fortunes,
engage in similar activities, and providing penalties therefor, in
Harford County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 248A be and it is hereby added to the Code of
Public Local Laws of Harford County (1957 Edition, being Article
13 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Harford
County," to follow immediately after Section 248 thereof, and to be
under the new subtitle "Fortune Telling," and to read as follows:
Fortune Telling
248A.
Any person in Harford County who shall ask, demand, charge or
accept any remuneration, gratuity or anything of value for fore-
casting or foretelling or for pretending to forecast or foretell the
future of another by cards, palm-reading or any other scheme,
practice or device, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon con-
viction thereof shall be fined not less than twenty-five dollars
($25.00), nor more than five hundred dollars ($500.00) or imprisoned
for sixty days or less, or both.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1963.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 191 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Dorchester County (1961 Edition,
being Article 10 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland),
title "Dorchester County," subtitle "County Commissioners and
Treasurer," subheading "Taxes," changing the date on which the
County Treasurer elected in Dorchester County shall qualify.
