(e)   When a death occurs on a common carrier and the body is
taken from the carrier in this State, the person in charge or the owner
of the common carrier shall file with the State Board of Health and
Mental Hygiene a certificate of such death within twenty-four (24)
hours following the arrival of the carrier in Baltimore City or in the
respective counties. However, if the death occurred under any of the
conditions or circumstances set forth in Section 20 (c) above, noti-
fication shall be made to the Deputy Medical Examiner.

(f)  A funeral director or other person acting as such who, pur-
suant to this section, obtains a certificate of death shall be required
to file such certificate with the State Board of Health and Mental
Hygiene within seventy-two (72) hours after said death.

(g)  No person whose duty it is to make out and sign a certificate
of death shall execute more than one such certificate per death except
as authorized under the provisions of this sub-title, and further that
the attending physician or the Medical Examiner who took charge
of the corpse can file a replacement death certificate when corrections
authorized by them cannot be entered legibly on the original
certificate.

21.    Execution and Filing of Fetal Death Certificate.

(a)  A fetal death certificate for each fetal death which occurs in
this State after a gestation period of twenty (20) completed weeks
or more shall be filed with the State Board of Health and Mental
Hygiene within seventy-two (72) hours after such delivery.

(b)  The funeral director or person acting as such who first as-
sumes custody of a fetus shall file the fetal death certificate. In the
absence of such a person, the physician or midwife, or other person
in attendance at or after the delivery shall file the certificate of
fetal death. He shall obtain the personal data from the next of kin
or the best qualified person or source available. He shall obtain the
medical certification of cause of death from the person responsible
therefor.

(c)   The medical certification shall be completed and signed within
twenty-four (24) hours after delivery by the physician or midwife
in attendance at or after delivery except when inquiry is required
by the Medical Examiner.

(d)   When a fetal death occurs without medical attendance upon
the mother at or after the delivery or when inquiry is required by
the Medical Examiner, he shall investigate the cause of fetal death
and shall complete and sign the medical certification within twenty-
four (24) hours after taking charge of the case.

(e)   When a fetal death occurs on a common carrier and the fetus
is taken from the carrier in this State, the person in charge or the
owner of the common carrier shall file with the State Board of Health
and Mental Hygiene a certificate of such fetal death within twenty-
four (24) hours following the arrival of the carrier in Baltimore City
or in the respective counties.

22.    Burial permits, interments, transportation and disinterment.

(a) The funeral director or person acting as such who first as-
sumes custody of a dead body or fetus shall obtain a burial-transit
permit prior to final disposition or removal from the State of the
