To the Clerk of the Court of Appeals:
I, Lloyd L. Simpkins, Secretary of State of Maryland,
pursuant to the direction contained in Section 172 of Article 33 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1957) Edition, Do Hereby Certify,
That at a Special Election held in Election Districts 29, 5 and 6 of
Allegany County, Maryland, on June 4,1963, an Act known as Chapter
850 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1963, was
submitted to the voters of said Election Districts 29, 5 and 6 of said
Allegany County for their adoption or rejection under the provisions
of Chapter 850 of the Acts of 1963, said Act being as follows:
"An Act to add 4 new sections to the Code of Public Local Laws
of Allegany County (1955 Edition), being Article I of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title 'Allegany
County,' subtitle 'Fire Companies,' said new sections to be
known as Sections 148A to 148D, inclusive, to follow im-
mediately after Section 148 of said Article, and to be under
the new subheading 'LaVale Fire Area', relating to the
creation of the 'LaVale Fire Area' and to the levy of a
special fire tax in parts of Election Districts Nos. 29, 5 and 6
in Allegany County, comprising said 'LaVale Fire Area', and
providing for a referendum thereon."
and I DO certify that at said election held in Election Districts
29, 5 and 6 in Allegany County, 699 votes were cast in favor of the
adoption of Chapter 850 of the Acts of 1963 and 524 votes were cast
against the adoption thereof, and a majority of the votes being cast
in favor of the adoption of said Chapter 850 of the Acts of 1963,
the said Act has been ratified by the voters of Election Districts 29,
5 and 6 of Allegany County, Maryland.
In Testimony Whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my
name and affixed my official Seal at the City of
Annapolis, this 17th day of June, 1963.
