Senate Bill No. 464—Forest or Park Reserve Fund, Garrett County

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 357 of
Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title
"Natural Resources," subtitle "Forests and Parks," subheading "In
General," changing Garrett County's share in the Forest or Park
Reserve Fund.

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with the provisions of Article 2, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill No. 464 and
am returning this Bill along with my veto message.

This Bill provides that Garrett County's share of the Forest or Park
Reserve Fund would increase from fifteen percent to eighty percent.
All other counties would continue to receive fifteen percent of the
revenues of such fund, derived from such part of the State reserves
as is located within the respective county.

This Bill is manifestly discriminatory as to the other twenty-two
counties in the State.

Therefore, I feel compelled to veto Senate Bill No. 464.
