2120 JOINT RESOLUTIONS
In the Joint Resolution of 1958, "Uncle" Stringer is characterized
as "the cracker-barrel philosopher, the salty humorist, the past
master of a ready quip, the puncturing wit for State House egos, the
constant individualist, the consistent realist, the unreconstructed
rebel." The 1958 Resolution congratulated him also for the "ready
smile, the friendly greeting, the active mind, the zest for living with
great gusto."
The General Assembly of Maryland, as an epitaph to the memory
of a man who left an indelible print upon a whole generation of
legislative life, now records its deep regrets over his passing and
repeats the deep respect and affection in which he was held by literally
hundreds of legislators; now, therefore be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the deepest
sympathies of this body be expressed over the passing of Edwin L.
Stringer, for many years a legislative employee in the Annapolis
office of the Department of Legislative Reference; and be it further
Resolved, That the Secretary of State of Maryland be directed,
under the Great Seal of the State of Maryland, to send a copy of
this Resolution to the surviving widow of "Uncle" Stringer, Mrs.
Edwin L. Stringer, 3621 Newark Street, N. W., Apt. 312, Washington
16, District of Columbia.
Approved February 26, 1963.
