for the purpose of assisting in the maintenance and operation of
the nine volunteer fire companies in Cecil County, in the following
amounts; provided, that in order to be eligible for any of the follow-
ing amounts, each of the said nine volunteer fire companies named
herein shall meet the minimum specifications and standards for
approval laid down by the Harford and Cecil County Volunteer Fire-
men's Association.
Cecilton Fire Company, Inc., $3,100. Hack's Point Fire Company,
$2,400. Charlestown Fire Company, Inc., $3,000. Chesapeake City
Fire Company, $3,200. Singerly Fire Company of Elkton, $4,200.
for operation and maintenance and $1,000 for the ambulance. North
East Fire Company, $3,600. and $1,000. for the ambulance. Com-
munity Fire Company of Perryville, $2,900. and $1,000. for the
ambulance. Water Witch Fire Company at Port Deposit, $3,600.
Rising Sun Fire Company, $3,600. and $1,000. for the ambulance.
Levy shall be made [in the month of June] May 1 and the said
sum of money to be paid by the County Commissioners of Cecil
County to the said volunteer fire companies. The said County Com-
missioners are hereby directed to require each of the said volunteer
fire companies to file, annually, a fair statement of the value of their
respective fire fighting apparatus. Each of the said volunteer fire
companies shall also file with the County Commissioners a statement
of the number of fires to which their respective companies were
called during the previous year, the estimated value of the property
in which the fires occurred and the estimated loss to the same by
reason of any fire.

Duties of Treasurer.
It shall be the duty of the treasurer of Cecil County in each and
every year, as soon as the annual levy is made, to give public notice
thereof by advertisement in not less than two newspapers published
in said county, and said levy shall be due and payable on the first
day of [September] July of the year in which it is made, and he
shall report to the County Commissioners at their regular meeting
on the second Tuesday in each month, the amount of taxes of all
kinds received by him up to that date, the amount of disbursements
made and the balance remaining in his hands; and he shall deposit
at the close of each week, in banks designated by the County Com-
missioners, all monies that may have come into his hands during
said week, the portion belonging to the State to the credit of the
Comptroller of the State Treasury, and the portion belonging to
the county to the credit of Cecil County, and shall receive therefor
from said banks two certificates of deposit, and he shall immediately
forward to the comptroller the certificate showing the amount placed
to his credit, and shall exhibit to the County Commissioners the
certificate showing the amount placed to the credit of Cecil County,
and shall file the same in their office; and the money thus deposited
to the credit of Cecil County shall be drawn out only upon a check
signed by the treasurer and approved by the president of the Board
of County Commissioners, and the said treasurer shall not deposit
any money belonging to Cecil County in any bank that will not pay
interest on said deposits during the time said money is deposited
in said bank, and before making said deposits the treasurer shall
