be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:

2-55.

(b) The following persons shall be exempted from the Classified
Service: Elected officials of the county, Attorney to the County
Commissioners, Members of the Planning and Zoning Commission,
Members of the Board of Zoning Appeals, Members of the Police
Board, Members of the Sanitary Commission, employees of the
Board of Education, employees of the Police Department, [and]
the county manager, and enginemen of volunteer fire companies.

Any person appointed by the Governor by and with the advice
and consent of the Senate of Maryland.

Persons appointed by and with the approval of the Judges of the
Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County and the State's Attorney of
Anne Arundel County.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1963.

CHAPTER 789
(House Bill 124)

AN ACT to add new Section 9(57) to Article 81 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and 1962 Supplement), title
"Revenue and Taxes," subtitle "What Shall Be Taxed and Where,"
to follow immediately after Section 9(56) thereof, to authorize
a county tax exemption in Anne Arundel County for the property,
real and personal, of certain non-profit community associations,
UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 9(57) be and it is hereby added to Article 81 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and 1962 Supple-
ment), title "Revenue and Taxes," subtitle "What Shall Be Taxed
and Where," to follow immediately after Section 9(56) thereof,
and to read as follows:

9(57).

For purposes of county taxation in Anne Arundel County only,
property, real and personal, owned by nonprofit community asso-
ciations formed for operation of recreation centers, athletic fields,
playgrounds, or other community or civic facilities for
recreation,
sport, amusement, and other such activities.

AND IN THE DISCRETION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COM-
MISSIONERS, SO DIRECTING, REAL PROPERTY, TITLE TO
WHICH IS HELD BY NON-PROFIT COMMUNITY CIVIC ASSO-
CIATIONS OR CORPORATIONS, WHICH PROPERTY IS DEDI-
CATED BY APPROPRIATE PLAT OR DEED RESTRICTIONS
