ment necessary to perform the duties of his office shall, upon
approval of the State Comptroller, be allowed as an expense of his
office.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1963.

CHAPTER 643
(House Bill 863)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 149 (a)
of Article 89B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
title "State Roads," subtitle "Northeastern Expressway Revenue
Bonds," providing for the use of certain toll receipts from the
Northeastern Expressway for additions, improvements and better-
ments to such Expressway upon certain conditions.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 149 (a) of Article 89B of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1957 Edition), title "State Roads," subtitle "Northeastern Ex-
pressway Revenue Bonds," be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

149.

(a) The Commission is hereby authorized to fix, revise, charge
and collect tolls for the use of the Expressway and any part or
section thereof, including tolls for the use of the bridge across the
Susquehanna River authorized to be constructed by the provisions
of this subheading which such tolls shall not be less at the time of
the collection thereof than the tolls charged at such time for passage
of similar vehicles under similar circumstances over the present
Susquehanna River bridge, and to contract with any person, partner-
ship, association or corporation desiring the use of any part thereof,
including the right of way adjoining the paved portion, for placing
thereon telephone, telegraph, electric light or power lines, and
restaurants, or for any other purpose except for tracks for railroad
or railway use, and to fix the terms, conditions, rents and rates of
charges for such use. Such tolls shall be so fixed and adjusted in
respect to the aggregate of tolls from the Expressway as to provide
a fund sufficient with other revenues, if any, and after giving effect
to the assignment and transfer of such tolls and revenues to the
Fidelity-Baltimore National Bank & Trust Company, trustee under
the trust agreement, dated as of October 1, 1954, between it and
said Commission as provided for by such agreement supplemental
thereto as may be entered into by said Commission pursuant to the
provisions of Section 141 of this subheading to pay (i) the cost of
maintaining, repairing and operating the Expressway, including
such bridge as may be constructed pursuant to this subheading, and
(ii) the principal of and the interest on the bonds as the same shall
