CHAPTER 599
(Senate Bill 438)

AN ACT to add a new Section 127A to the Code of Public Local
Laws of Charles County (1961 Edition, being Article 9 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Charles County", to
follow immediately after Section 127 thereof, and to be under the
new sub-title "Hunting and Fishing", to provide for the offenses
of hunting and fishing in Charles County on the property of an-
other without written permission, providing penalties for a viola-
tion of this Act and relating generally to the duties of county of-
ficials in its enforcement.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 127A be and it is hereby added to the Code of
Public Local Laws of Charles County (1961 Edition, being Article 9
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Charles Coun-
ty", to follow immediately after Section 127 thereof, and to be under
the new sub-title "Hunting and Fishing" , and to read as follows:

Hunting and Fishing
127A.

(a) It is unlawful for any person to enter or trespass upon the
property of another for the purpose of hunting and fishing thereon
during the season for hunting or fishing as the case may be, in
Charles County, unless such person shall have first secured from the
owner or person in possession of the property written permission to
hunt
or fish thereon. Any person hunting or fishing upon the property
of another shall exhibit his written permission to hunt
or fish thereon
upon the request of the sheriff or any deputy or the owner or person
in possession. The sheriff, or any deputy sheriff shall upon the request
of the owner or person in possession of any property on which there
is hunting or fishing arrest any person thereon without the written
permission of the owner or person in possession. Violation of this
section is punishable upon conviction by a fine of not less than twen-
ty-five dollars ($25) and not more than five hundred dollars ($500).

(b) For the purpose of enforcing the provisions of this section,

with the approval of the County Commissioners, the sheriff of

Charles County shall appoint one or more deputies at the salaries
approved by the County Commissioners. Notwithstanding any other
provisions of law to the contrary, all fines collected for violations of

this section shall be paid over to the County Commissioners who shall

use said funds solely for the purpose of paying the salaries of the

deputies appointed herein.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1963.
