Court to be held at our Court house in the Town of Chester in said County on the
third tuesday of Novemr. next & in the mean time to be of good behavour then
this recoge. to be Void Else to remain in full force & Virtue in Law

Kent County fst The Jurors for the right honourable the Lord propry that
now is for the body of Kent County afd upon their Oath do present that Wm
Graves late of Saint Pauls parish in the County afd Gent. the twelvth
day of August in the year of Our Lord God seventeen hundred thirty & eight
at the parish afd in the County afd and within the Jurisdiction of this Court
force and Arms in & upon a Certain George Barber of the same County
Merchant in the peace of God & of the same Lord Propry then & there
being an Assault did make & him the same George then & there did beat
wound & evilly treat so that of his life it was greatly dispaired and
other harms to him then & there did beat wound & evilly treat so that
of his life it was greatly dispaired and other harms to him then & there
did to the great damage of the same George & against the peace of the
same Lord Propry his good rule & Governmt. &c D Dulany pr Dno. propry
On the Back of the afd Indictmt. was Indorsed as fol. Vizt
                 Billa Vera Mathew Howard Foreman
And now here to wit at Kent County Court at the Court house in the Town
of Chester in said County on the third tuesday of Novemr. being the fourteenth
day of said month in the year of Our Lord Seventeen hundred thirty & eight
                                                              his
Cometh the afd Lord propry by Daniel Dulany Esqr. ^ Attorney and pray:
:eth that the afd William to the Indictment afd may Answer
And the afd William Graves in his proper person comes and
Defends the force & injury when &c And saith that he cannot gainsay
the Indictment afd so as afd against him brought nor can he say but
that the dayd he is guilty of the premisses afd above upon him Impos'd
as by the afd Indictment it is Alledged & thereupon Submits to the Court
Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here to wit at Kent County
Court at the Court house in the Town of Chester in said County on the third
tuesday of Novemr being the fourteenth day of said month in the year of
Our Lord Seventeen hundred thirty & eight that the afd William
Graves pay the sum of two pounds current money of Maryland
as a fine for Committing the Offence afd Also it is Considered by the
Justices afd at the time & place afd last mentioned that the said Wm.
pay the sum of Seven hundred & One pounds of tobacco Costs
Accrueing on the premisses afd to the Officers of this Court &c
Ordered by this Court here that the fine afd be delivered the sher.
of Kent County And Simon Wilmer Gent. present here in Court
Acknowledgeth the receipt of the same
Ordered by this Court here that the afd Willm. enter into recoge.
