982          JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [March 10,

On motion of Mr. Belt,

The said address was unanimously ordered to be entered on
the Journal.

Mr. McPherson, offered the following order:
Ordered, That the committee on Claims, be hereby autho-
rised and directed, to pay the members of the committee of
Finance of the Senate, and the committee of Ways and Means
of the House, for services they are required to render after the
adjournment, in the examination and destruction of coupons
and certificates of stock;

Which was adopted.

Mr. Grieves, offered the following order,

Ordered, That the committee on Claims, be directed to pay
to the pages of this House, $50 each, additional, for the faith-
ful performance of their duties, during the session about to
close;

Which was rejected.

Mr. Sudler, of Somerset, offered the following order,

Ordered, That the thanks of this House be unanimously
tendered to Dr. Grieves, Chairman of committee on Colored
Population, for the courteous, dignified and able manner
in which he has discharged the duties as said Chairman;

Which was adopted.

Mr. Alexander, moved that the bill entitled, an act to regu-
late inspections in the city of Baltimore, be read the third
time.

Objection being made,

The Speaker, (Mr. Stirling, in the Chair,) decided the mo-
tion to be in order,

Mr. Goldsborough, appealed from the decision of the Chair,
The yeas and nays being demanded, appeared as follow:
