Mr. Rogers moved a call of the House;

Which was not sustained.

Pending the consideration of said bill,

The House took a recess until half past four o'clock.

AFTERNOON SESSION, 4½ o'clock, P. M.

Present at the call of the roll, the following members ;

Mackubin, Kilbourn, Griffiss, Magruder, Burgess, Walker,
Allender, Ford, of Baltimore county, Lynch of Baltimore
county, Smith, of Baltimore county, Goldsborough, Waller,
Moore, Tilghman, Dail, Richardson, Grieves, Davis, Ford,
of Cecil, Wyville, Contee, Sudler, of Queen Anne's, Land-
ing, Spence, Hearn, Bowlus, Root, Hobbs, Baker, Todd,
Stirling, Rogers, McPherson, Smith, of Baltimore city, Ken-
nard, Lynch, of Baltimore city, Harrington, Crowley, Alex-
ander, Rohrer, Summers, Gray, Schnebly, Riddlemoser, Du-
vall, Worthington, Kilgour, Barnard, McKinstry, Day, Wel-
ling and Dorsey.

The Speaker announced the pending question to be the
consideration of

The bill entitled, an act to regulate inspections in the city
of Baltimore;

Said bill being upon its second reading,
Mr. Day, proposed the following amendment:

In line 5, section 1, strike out the words "of ground black
Oak bark," and insert, "and measurer of all kinds of bark,
who shall have power to charge and collect fifteen cents per
cord or per ton, on every cord or ton of "bark that comes to
the city of Baltimore, for inspecting the same." And in line
14 and 15, "ground black oak bark."
