A bill entitled, an act to authorise the opening of a road
in Carroll and Howard counties;

A bill entitled, an act to compensate Josiah H. Gordon for
legal services;

A bill entitled, an act to authorise the Jefferson Division,
No. 163, of the Sons of Temperance, to erect an additional
story upon the Primary School House in Jefferson School
District, Frederick county;                     

A bill entitled, an act to incorporate a company to make a
turnpike from Bel Air to Frogtown;

A bill to authorise the Commissioners of the Tax of Charles
county to levy a sum of money sufficient for the support of
Ann E. H. Ferrell, an insane pauper of said county;

A bill entitled, an act to incorporate the Baltimore City
Guard;

A bill entitled, an act to refund to Nicholas H. Green, of
Anne Arundel county, certain moneys improperly paid by
him into the Treasury, as Clerk of Anne Arundel County
Court;

A bill entitled, an act to repeal the ninth section of the
act passed at January session 1852, chapter 93, an act to al-
ter and amend the charter of the Cumberland Coal and Iron
company, incorporated by an act entitled, an act to incorpo-
rate the Cumberland Coal and Iron company, passed at De-
cember session 1840, chapter 214;

A bill entitled, an act to regulate the compensation of ju-
rors in Prince George's county;

Severally endorsed "passed by yeas and nays."

The bill entitled, an act to incorporate Uniontown in Car-
roll county;

Being upon its second reading,

Mr. McKinstry proposed the following amendment:

Strike out all after the enacting clause* and insert the follow-
ing :

An Act to incorporate the Town of Union Town in Carroll
county, Maryland.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the citizens of Union Town in Carroll County,
Maryland, with additions hereby described, commencing at
the alley or lane west of Barney Dunson's lot at the west end
of Union Town, and running south twenty-five perches, then
parallel with the main street of said town, to the house of
Elizabeth Dern at the east of Union Town; then due north
fifty perches with a line parallel with the aforesaid in a west-
