ments showing the amount of the capital stock, amount of the
loans and discounts, specie in the, banks, amount due to, and
due from other hanks, amount of deposits, and amounts of
circulation of said corporations, respectively; and that all the
hanks in this State without the limits of the city of Balti-
more, shall, on the first Wednesday of July next, and annu-
ally thereafter, on the first Wednesday of July, publish in
one of the newspapers published in the county in which the
corporation may be located, statements embracing the above
items, showing their condition.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the discounting of drafts,
or of promissory notes, or of other negotiable paper, in any
other notes than the issues of the banks of Maryland, at par
value thereof, by any of the banks of this State, is hereby
prohibited; and be it further enacted, that any such draft or
promissory note, or other negotiable paper, that may be dis-
counted with any issues, other than the issues of the banks of
Maryland, at par value thereof, shall not be recoverable in
any court of law in this State.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That any bank failing to com-
ply with the provisions and requirements of this act, shall be
subject to a fine of fifty dollars for each and every failure to
comply, to be recovered in the name and for the use of the
State of Maryland, as other fines and forfeitures may be re-
covered."
