The proceedings of Saturday were read.
Mr. Alexander, proposed the following resolution:
Resolved, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
State Librarian be authorised and required to close the Libra-
ry for the period of fifteen days in each year, to wit: from the
5th to the 20th day of August, in each year, for the purpose
of cleaning and dusting the books of the said Library, and
for the purpose of making such internal arrangements as the
Librarian may think proper;
Which was read.
Mr. Grieves, from the committee on Colored Population,
reported favorably on a Senate bill entitled, an act amenda-
tory of an act passed December session, 1818, chapter 184,
entitled, an act for the better protection of slaveholders in the
counties therein mentioned; also,
Favorably on the Senate bill entitled,' an act to authorise
James J. Dickinson and John L. Porter, executors of Pris-
cilla Porter, deceased, to sell at private sale, certain negro
slaves.
The resolution requiring the Governor to furnish Calvert
College, at New Windsor, Carroll county, with arms and ac-
coutrements;
Was read the second time, and passed by yeas and nays,
