The said bill was then sent to the Senate.
On motion of Mr. Stirling,
The rules were suspended, and
Leave was granted to the Baltimore city delegation to in-
troduce a bill to authorise the Mayor and City Council of Bal-
timore to issue bonds to complete a new jail.
Mr. Stirling, from a select committee, reported favorably
on a bill entitled, an act authorizing the Mayor and City
Council of Baltimore to issue the bonds or inscribed stock of
said city to complete a new jail,
Which was read the first time.
Mr. Alexander offered the following order :
Ordered, That the Librarian be and he is hereby authoriz-
ed and directed to pay to his Assistant, F. C. Hyde, for his
services in the Library, out of the Library contingent fund,
the sum of fifty dollars per month, and that this order shall
take effect from its passage ;
Which was adopted.
The Senate bill entitled, an act to increase the number of
Justices of Peace and Constables in Kent county ;
