The said bill as amended was then read the second time,
and ordered to be engrossed for a third reading.

The bill entitled, an act to authorise the repair or rebuild-
ing, and keeping in repair of the bridge over the Patuxent
river at Brown's, late Gaither's ford, in Howard and Mont-
gomery counties;

Was read a second time, and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

The bill entitled, an act to amend an act passed at Decem-
ber session, 1849, chapter 358, entitled, an act to incorporate
the Union Plank Road and Turnpike Company;

Was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The bill entitled, an act to prohibit the President and Man-
agers and Company of the Baltimore and Frederick road
from collecting tolls on said road within one mile of the cor-
porate limits of Baltimore city,

Being upon its second reading;

Mr. Ford, of Baltimore county, moved to strike out the
enacting clause;

Which was assented to, and the enacting clause stricken
out.

The Senate bill entitled, an act to change the place of hold-
ing elections in the Sixth Election District of Dorchester
county,

Being upon its second reading ;

Mr. Grieves proposed the following amendment:

AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

Sec. 1, line 2, after "and elections," insert the Sixth Elec-
tion District of Dorchester county;

Which was assented to, and the bill as amended read a
second time.

The bill entitled, an act to consummate the division of the
joint property of the city and county of Baltimore;

Was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The bill entitled, an act to alter and amend the charter
of the Somerset and Worcester Savings Bank;

Was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The bill entitled, an act requiring John L. Stansbury,
collector of the State taxes of 1848, for Baltimore county, to
make statements to the Comptroller of the amount of State
