The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following mes-
sage:

By the Senate,

February 24th, 1858.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:

We respectfully request you to return to us a bill entitled,
an act relating to the trial of assaults and battery in Som-
erset county.

C. Harwood, Secretary.
Which was read.                               

Mr. Summers, from a select committee, reported favorably
on a bill entitled, an act to increase the salary of the clerk of
the Commissioners of Washington county.                 

Mr. Thruston, from a select committee, reported favorably
on a bill entitled, an act to authorise Henry Maguire, a negro
slave, to be sold out of the State:

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Wyville, from a select committee, reported favorably
on a Senate bill entitled, an act amendatory of an act passed
at December session, 1842, entitled, an act to regulate the
expenses of Prince George's county;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Mackubin, from a select committee, reported favora-
bly on a bill entitled, an act to incorporate Metropolis Lodge
No. 17, of the I. O. O. F.; of the State of Maryland;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Clarke, from a select committee reported favorably on
the bill entitled, an act to authorise the Circuit Court of Tal-
bot county, sitting as a Court of Equity, to pass a decree for
the sale of certain real estate owned by one Stephen Pearce,
free negro, late of said county, deceased, and to distribute the
proceeds of said sale to the respective parties entitled thereto;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Kilbourn, from a select committee, reported favorably
on a bill entitled, an act to make the city of Baltimore and
Anne Arundel county, adjoining jurisdictions.

Mr. Worthington, from a select committee, reported favor-
ably on a bill entitled, an act for the relief of Rezin Will-
coxen, of Montgomery county;

Which was read the first time.
