of common schools, the amount of money received on account
of the interest upon the claim of the State against the Gen-
eral Government, for money advanced by the State, during
the late war with England;

Which were severally read the first time.

Mr. Alexander, from the committee on Judiciary, made the
following

REPORT.
To the Honorable,

The House of Delegates,

The judiciary committee, to whom was referred the bill
entitled, an act supplemental to various acts relating to Ches-
ter Bridge Company, and providing for the reconstruction of
the draw of the bridge at Chestertown, so as to open it to the
width of fifty feet clear, beg leave to report, that they have
investigated the subject of said bill, and examined the law
bearing upon it, and, find upon consideration thereof, that
said bill is in conflict with the chartered privileges of said
bridge company, and in violation of their vested rights.—
Your committee, therefore, report unfavorably upon said bill.

Unfavorably on the bill entitled, an act to protect the peo-
ple of this State in the free exercise of their elective fran-
chise;

Which was read the first time; also,
Favorably on the following bills:

A bill entitled, an act to make valid a certain deed of mort-
gage from Christopher Bork, and Susannah Bork, his wife,
to John A. Brown.

A bill entitled, an act to provide for the taking the sense
of the people upon the expediency of calling a convention to
frame a new Constitution and form of government for this
State, and to provide for the election of delegates to such con-
vention.

A bill] entitled, an act for the relief of Rebecca J. Neill,
widow of Capt. Frederick Neill, late of Baltimore county,
deceased.

A bill entitled, an act to provide for the division of the
city of Baltimore into twenty wards, and said wards into
election districts.
