The said bill was then sent to the Senate.

On motion of Mr. Ford, of Cecil,
The rules were suspended, and
The House took up for consideration,

The Senate bill entitled, an act to incorporate the Colum-
bia and Port Deposit Railroad Company.

Mr. Kennard, chairman of the committee on Internal Im-
provements, proposed the following amendments:

PROPOSED AMENDMENTS.

Sec. 3d. 9th line after the word "demanded," insert, "and
one newspaper in Baltimore city having the largest circula-
tion. "

Sec. 3d. 12th line, strike out all after the word "payable,"
to the end of the section, and insert "said company shall be
entitled to receive, sue for, and recover, double the amount
of said installment so demanded, with interest thereon, from
the day of demand, in such manner as other debts and claims
are now recoverable by law; provided, the installment so de-
manded shall not exceed one-fifth of the value of the share
subscribed."

Sec. 7th. 2d line after the word "notice," insert "in the
manner directed in section 3d, 9th line."

Sec. 13th. 4th line strike out after the word "exceeding,"
and insert "$500,000."

Sec. 14th. 6th line, strike out after the word "exceeding,"
and insert "$500,000."

Which were assented to.

The said bill as amended, was read the second time, and
ordered to be engrossed for a third reading.

On motion of Mr. Davis,
The rules were suspended, and

Said bill was read the third time, three-fourths concurring,
and passed by yeas and nays as follow:
