Which was read the first time, and referred to the Balti-
more county delegation.

A bill entitled, an act appropriating a sum of money in pay-
ment for legal services rendered, by Brice J. Goldsborough,
Esq., at the request of the Governor of this State ;

Endorsed "passed by yeas and nays;"

Which was read the first time, and referred to the com-
mittee on Claims.

A bill entitled, an act to change the place of holding elec-
tions in the sixth election district of Dorchester county ;

Endorsed "passed by yeas and nays ;"

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Dor-
chester county delegation; also, delivered the following bills:

A bill entitled, an additional supplement to an act entitled,
an act to provide for the speedy collection of State and County
taxes in Baltimore county, and for other purposes, passed
January session, 1854, chapter 139;

Endorsed " passed by yeas and nays," without amend-
ment.

A bill entitled, an additional supplement to the act entitled,
« supplement to an act for founding a College at Chestertown;

Which was read the first time, and referred to the commit-
tee on Education; also,

A bill entitled an act to prohibit the sale of intoxicating
liquors in the city of Annapolis to minors and people of color.

Endorsed, passed by yeas and nays with proposed amend-
ments :

AMENDMENTS PROPOSED :

Sec. 1, line 9, after the word "years" insert ''without the
written order of the parent or guardian of such minor."

Line 9, after the word "any," strike out the word "ser-
vant."

Line 10, after the word "the," insert certificate of three
respectable freeholders of the city of Annapolis, that said
free negro or mulatto is of good and temperate habits, and of
moral character, "or."

Sec. 1, line 18, after the word "shall," strike out in addi-
tion to the fine aforesaid, and insert the words "be fined a
sum not less than one hundred dollars, nor more than four
hundred dollars, "and,"

Same section, line 19, after the word "county," strike out
for a period not less than two months nor more than 18
months, and insert, "until said fines shall be paid, the fines
