Your committee have examined warehouse No. 4, and find
it under the polite and efficient inspector Mr. Etchison in good
repair.                       

The business of the warehouse shows.

The hogsheads inspected in the year 1856, were      -    7,066

The hogsheads shipped " " " " - - -    -    7,243

The scraps for said year amounted to - - -       -          23

And the proceedings arising from the sale of the same, a-
mounted to -                                        $971.71

The average number of hands employed during the year

was          ------- 11

The hogsheads inspected in the year 1857 - - - 5,193
The hogsheads shipped " " " " - - - 5,151
The hogsheads of scraps " " " " - - - 16
And the proceeds thereof amounted - - $769.65
The average number of hands employed was - 9

Your committee next visited warehouse No. 5, and; after a
thorough examination find it in a good condition, with the
exception of the spouting which appears to be too small to carry
off the water, but the interior and exterior of said warehouse
presents the appearance of great personal attention upon the
part of the inspector, Mr. Waters.

The hogsheads inspected in the year 1857 - - -      9,277

The average number of hands employed during skid year
amounted to ---------- 15

By an examination of the Comptroller's Report it will be
seen that the expenses for the year, eighteen hundred and
fifty-six, amounts to the sum of forty-seven thousand seven
hundred and six dollars and eleven cents, embracing the
commissions, repairs of houses, wages of laborers, salaries of
inspectors, clerks, mails and incidental expenses, and the
gross amount received during said year, from the State's
Tobacco Inspections amounts to the sum of fifty-six thousand
five hundred and sixty-eight dollars, and ninety-one cents,
