MONDAY, Feb. 8th, 1858.

The House met, and was opened with prayer by Rev. Mr.
Graff.

Present, at the call of the roll, the following members :
Messrs. Berry, Speaker, Neale, Mackubin, Kilbourn, Grif-
fiss, Magruder, Burgess, Walker, Allender, Ford, of Balti-
more county, Lynch, of Baltimore county, Smith, of Balti-
more county, Goldsborough, Waller, Moore, Sudler, of Som-
erset, Tilghman, Dail, Richardson, Grieves, Ford of Cecil,
Kidd, Belt, Wyville, Larrimore, Landing, Harding, Bowlus,
Root, Hobbs, Hanway, Bacon, Baker, Todd, Stirling, Rogers,
McPherson, Smith, of Baltimore city, Kennard, Lynch, of
Baltimore city, Harrington, Forrest, Alexander, Gray, Du-
vall, Worthington, Thruston, Kilgour, McKinstry Welling
and Dorsey.

The proceedings of yesterday were read.

The Speaker laid before the House the following

REPORT:

The committee appointed by the House of Delegates to ex-
amine into and report the present condition of the State To-
bacco Warehouses in Baltimore city, have agreed upon and
do do make the following report:

Under the polite and gentlemanly attention of the Tobacco
Inspectors, your committee proceeded to investigate and ex-
amine the different Tobacco Warehouses, and take great plea-
sure in stating that they commenced their labors by examin-
ing Warehouse No. 1, under the polite guidance of its gentle-
manly Inspector, Robert O. Edmonston, who conducted your
committee through the building, which we found in good re-
pair, and in admirable order throughout the entire interior
arrangement; the outside of said warehouse, except the pave-
ment, your committee also found in a good condition. Your
committee further find, that

In the year 1856, Warehouse No. 1, inspected 12,703 hhds.

Warehouse No. 1, shipped, -                     14,094 "

The hhds. of scraps, - - - -           118 "

Proceeds from the sale thereof, $3,268 95.

The average number of men employed, 18.
In the year 1857, Warehouse No. 1, inspections, 12,856 "

Shipped, - - - - - - 12,519 "

The hhds. of scraps, -                                    112 "

Proceeds from the sale thereof, $3,968 90.

The average number of men employed, 19.
