b. 821, r. 1071); left Maryland in 1776 but returned in 1780 and died at

Annapolis, 23 Feb. 1814.

1. John Yeates of ---- County (Prot.), Comptroller of Pocomoke, pro-
bably appointed in Midsummer, 1764 or '65; died prior to May, 1766 (AM, XIV,

311).

2. Andrew Ragg of ---- County (Prot.), appointed by Customs Commissioners

to succeed Yeates at Pocomoke, 30 May, 1766; entered office 28 Aug. 1766 (AM,

XIV, 311; Audit Office, b, 822, r. 1072); granted l leave to remove to Great
Britain, 31 March 1779 (AM, XXI, 333).

1. John Clapham of Annapolis (Prot.), appointed Comptroller of Chester
by Customs Commissioners about 30 May 1766; sworn 27 Sept. 1766 (Gilmer
Papers II, 44); granted leave to remove to Great Britain, 23 March 1779

(AM, XXI, 327).
