On motion of Mr. Landing,

The rules were suspended, that the bill entitled, an act to
incorporate the Union Express company might he put upon
its second reading, when

On motion of Mr. Lawson,
The House adjourned at 3½ o'clock until 4 o'clock, P. M.

AFTERNOON SESSION, 4 o'clock.

The House met pursuant to adjournment.

Mr, Kessler moved to call up the bill entitled, an act to in-
corporate the Merrill Patent Fire Arm company.

Mr. Gordon moved to postpone the orders of the day to
take up the bill relative to the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal
company ;

Mr. Ford moved to take up the General Appropriation
bills;

The yeas and nays were ordered, and appeared as fol-
