The second order of the day was then taken up;

Being the bill entitled, an act to repeal all the sections of
article four of the local public laws, from section 470, to sec-
tion 534, inclusive, and to substitute therefor the following
sections;

Said bill being upon its second reading,
Mr. Krafft moved that the bill be printed;

Which was not sustained.

Mr. Denison, of Baltimore city, called for the printing un-
der the rule;

The Speaker decided, that being made the order of the day
by action of the House, it was upon its second reading,
without being printed.

The second reading of the bill was then proceeded with.
Mr. Gorsuch proposed the following amendment:

In section 2, line 2, after the word "Howard," insert
"Carroll:"

Which was adopted.

Mr. Briscoe proposed the following amendment:

In 2d section, 6th line, strike out "one thousand," and
insert "five hundred;"

Which was adopted.

Mr. Denison, of Baltimore city, proposed the following
Amendment:

In 2d section, by adding "Baltimore city," after the word
"counties," in line 3, page 2, of the printed hill;
