On motion of Mr. Stake,

Five hundred copies of the report made by Mr. Medders
were ordered to be printed.

(See Document HH.)

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following mes-
sage:

By the Senate,

March 2d, 1860.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates :

The Hon. James A. Pearce having been duly elected a
Senator of the United States for six years, from the fourth of
March, 1861, when his present term will expire, we propose,
with the concurrence of your honorable body, that the Presi-
dent of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Delegates
be requested to address a joint letter to the Hon. James A.
Pearce, informing him of his election as aforesaid.

William Kilgour,

Secretary.
Also, returned the following House bill:

The bill entitled, an act to carry into effect the eighth sec-
tion of the act entitled, an act for the promotion of internal
improvements, passed at December session, 1835, chapter
395;

Endorsed: "passed by yeas and nays. "

On motion of Mr. Legg,

The rules were suspended and leave was granted the Queen
Anne's county delegation to introduce a bill to repeal the
43d section of public local laws.

Mr. Legg presented a petition from sundry citizens of Bal-
timore, opposed to dredging;

Referred to the committee on Fish and Oysters.

The bill entitled, an act to incorporate the trustees of the
Methodist Protestant church of New Market, and to vest the
the property now held by the said congregation or church, in
said trustees:
