Mr. Brown, from a select committee, reported favorably
on the bill entitled, an act to authorise the opening of a pub-
lic road in Howard and Montgomery counties;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Medders, from a select committee, reported favorably
on the bill entitled, an act to continue in force the act to in-
corporate the Kent county Railroad company, passed January
session, 1856;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Roop, from a select committee, reported favorably on
Senate bill entitled, an act to change the name of Jacob David
McCue, of Carroll county, to Jacob David Hoppe;

Which was read the first time.
On motion of Mr. Parian,

The rules were suspended and the bill entitled, an act to
incorporate the Southwestern Mutual Insurance company, of
Baltimore city was taken up;

Said bill being upon its second reading,

Mr. Denison, of Baltimore county, proposed the following
amendment:

Strike out the 11th section;

Which was concurred in.

Mr. Krafft proposed the following amendment:

Strike out the 15th section;
Which was concurred in, and

On motion of Mr. Krafft,
It was referred to the Baltimore city delegation.

On motion of Mr. Griffith,

The rules were suspended and the Senate bill entitled, an
act to amend article 15, sections 51, 52, 63, 54, 55, 56, 57,
58, 59, 60, 61, 02, 63, 64 and 65 of the code of public local
laws relating to schools in Montgomery county;

Was read the second lime, and by special order a third
time, and passed by yeas and nays as follow:
