directed to procure two gates, to be made and hung at the
entrance of the ladies' gallery;

Mr. Dennis, of Somerset, from a select committee, reported
favorably on the bill entitled, an act to allow William J.
Brittingham, late sheriff and collector of Somerset county,
further time to complete his collections;

Which was read the first time.

The bill entitled, an act to compensate Charles W.
Webster, for professional services rendered, under appoint-
ment of the Governor, in the Court of Appeals in the case of
Josiah Parrish vs. the State of Maryland;

Was read the first time; and,
On motion of Mr. Maxwell,

The rules were suspended, the said bill read a second and
third time, and passed by yeas and nays as follow:
