to transmit a copy of the resolution looking to a treaty with
Great Britain, for the rendition of fugitive slaves, to our rep-
resentatives in Congress.

Which was adopted.

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following Senate
bills:

A bill entitled, an act to authorise the commissioners for
Montgomery county to levy the sum of eighty dollars and
sixty-five cents, for the use of George P. Atwood;

Endorsed, "passed by yeas and nays;"

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Mont-
gomery county delegation.

Also, the bill entitled an act to compensate Charles W.
Webster, for professional services rendered under the appoint-
ment of the Governor, in the Court of Appeals, in the case
of Josiah Parrish vs. the State of Maryland;

Endorsed, "passed by yeas and nays;"

Which was read the first time, and referred to the commit-
tee on Claims.

Also, the bill entitled, an act to amend the act of 1826,
chapter 123, entitled, an act to incorporate the Baltimore
and Ohio railroad company ;

Endorsed, "passed by yeas and nays."

Which was read the first time, and referred to the com-
mittee on Corporations.

Also, returned the House bill entitled, an act to authorise
Jeremiah L. Pattison, of Dorchester county, to erect and keep
a gate on the public road leading from Tobaccostick to Tay-
lor's Island ;

With the following amendment:

After the word " act," in the title, insert the words, " to
add a new article to the code of public local laws."

The question being upon concurring in the amendment,
the yeas and nays were ordered, and appeared as follow :
