Also, an unfavorable report on the application of James
W. Leggett, for compensation therein rendered ;         

Which was adopted.

Also, an unfavorable report on the memorial of James
Evans, asking remuneration for personal injuries while dis-
charging his duties as an officer of the State; which

On motion of Mr. Ford,

Was postponed and made the special order of the day for
Tuesday next.                                 

Also, an unfavorable report on the petition of Rebecca T.
Neill, asking the refunding of certain money therein ex-
pressed ;

Which was adopted.

Mr. Gordon, chairman of the committee on the Judiciary,
reported favorably on the following bills :

The bill entitled, an act to repeal the 706th section, of the
the 4th article of the public local laws ;

The bill entitled, an act to amend the 4th article of the
code of public local laws, by providing a permanent police
for the city of Baltimore ;

The bill entitled, an act to amend the 817th section of the
4th article of the public local laws, which authorise the
Mayor and City Council of Baltimore, to clean the streets
and protect the pavements of the said city ;                 

The bill entitled, an act to amend the 4th article of the
code of public local laws, and to repeal the 18th section
thereof touching elections;

The bill entitled, an act to amend the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 12,
13, 14, 15, 17, 18, 19, 20, 23, 24, 28, 30, 31, 38, 44, 49, 50
and 51 sections, of article 35, of the code of public general
laws, relating to elections, so as to exclude the city of Balti-
more from the operation of said section, as herein provided,
and to substitute for said sections the following, &c;

Which were read the first time.                                 

Mr. Krafft moved to postpone it and make it the order of the
day for Monday week ;
