The said bill was then returned to the Senate.
On motion of Mr. Merrick,

The rules were suspended to allow him to offer the following
resolution:

Resolved, That the thanks of this House be unanimously ten-
dered to the Hon. William H. Travers, for the courteous, digni-
fied, impartial and able manner in which he has discharged the
duties of presiding officer of this House during the present ses-
sion;                                    

Which was read the first time, and

Three-fourths of the members concurring, was read the second
time and unanimously passed.                                               

Mr. Fiery offered the following message:
                                          By the House of Delegates,

March 10th, 1856.
Gentlemen of the Senate,                        

You will please return the bill No. 228, entitled, a supplement
to the act entitled, an act for the promotion of internal improve-
ments, passed at December session 1835, chapter 395, and also
bill No. 322 entitled, an act entitled, an act for the purpose of
aiding the construction of a railroad in Queen Ann's county, be-
ing a supplement to an act entitled, an act for the promotion of
internal improvements, passed at December session 1835, chap-
ter 395.
