At the recent re-organization, the compensation of the Profes-
sors was changed. The Principal now receives a salary of
$1500, and charged house-rent $300 per annum. The Vice Prin-
cipal's salary is $1000, and charged house-rent $150. The sala-
ry of the Professor of Ancient Languages, is $800, house-rent
$150. The Professor of Mathematics and Modern Languages
$800 each. Professor of the Preparatory Department $600. The
compensation heretofore allowed the Secretary, has been entirely
withdrawn. The tuition money, after deducting $1200 for cur-
rent expenses, is divided equally among the members of the
Faculty.
The residue of the resources have been expended in carrying
on the Institution, in repairs, improvements of the buildings, fur-
niture for the recitation rooms, apparatus, fuel, and other neces-
sary expenses. The vouchers for all payments and disbursements
are filed and preserved. The Treasurer, Mr. James Mackubin,
of Annapolis, will be prepared to give any detailed and minute
information in respect to the disbursements and state of the Col-
lege funds which may be required.
The Trustees appropriated a sum of $250 for a festival on com-
mencement day, 1852, in conformity to a usage which prevails at
all the other Colleges of which we have any knowledge. This
is the only occasion when any part of the funds have been ex-
pended for such or any kindred purpose.
4th. The only part of the public buildings not used for strictly
educational purposes, besides the commons and the rooms occu-
pied by the Principal and his family, is a room in the basement of
the main building, which has been fitted up and used as a deposi-
tory for the Standard Weights and Measures of the State.
The only portion of the College grounds leased or rented for
agricultural purposes, is a lot which heretofore has been cultivated
by the Steward, for the uses of the Commons. Some arrange-
