The said bill was then sent to the Senate.
The order of the day being

A bill entitled, an act making appropriation for the support of
the Government for the present year, ending on the first day of
January 1857;

Was read the second time.

Mr. Bowling moved to strike out the words "twenty-five," and
insert "twenty" in the 119th line of the 1st section;               

Which was accepted.

Mr. Merrick moved to amend by striking out the words "four
hundred and fifty" in the 35th line of the 1st section and insert
the words "six hundred;"                                                       

Which amendment was adopted.

Mr. Lester moved to amend by adding to the 146th line of the
1st section the words "for the use of the Blind Asylum three
thousand dollars;"             

Which amendment was adopted.

Mr. Lester moved to amend by adding to the 1st section after
the words "three thousand dollars," the words "to B. F. Zim-
merman, Auditor of Baltimore, four hundred and sixty dollars and
seventy-six cents;"

Which amendment was adopted.

Mr. Hall moved to amend by adding at the end of the 1st sec
tion the words "and for the use of the insane Hospital, fifteen

thousand dollars;"


Which was adopted.

Mr. Kennedy moved to amend by adding at the end of the 1st
section the words "for fuel for the State House, twelve hundred
dollars;"

Which was adopted.
On motion of Mr. Merrick,

The vote taken on Saturday, in relation to striking out the sum
appropriated for the salary of the State Chemist,
