Mr. Askew offered the following Resolutions:

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That we hail
with delight and gratitude the annual return of the birth day of
Washington the Father of his Country—loved, respected and
venerated by the entire American people; he who under the wis-
dom and direction of the great arbiter of human events, led the
struggling patriots of '76, through a perilous and gloomy war, to
a successful and glorious issue.

Resolved, That upon this the anniversary of the day, that gave
birth to that great and good man, the energies of whose mighty
intellect, were bent with unceasing effort to secure the indepen-
dence and liberty of his country, that we renew our vows of love
and attachment to the land of our birth, the home of our youth,
around whose past history clusters the brightest achievement, that
ever adorned the annals of National History.               

Resolved, That we cherish with feelings of grateful and patri-
otic remembrance the address and admonitions of the patriot
Washington, to cultivate a spirit of brotherly feeling between the
different sections of our bread and happy country, that the bond
of our union was cemented by the blood and suffering of our
common sires, and that their children will ever cherish that union
as the great bulwark of our national safety, and the ark in which
are embarked, the destinies and future prosperity of our country.

Resolved, That whilst the nations of Europe are engaged in
dreadful conflicts of strife and war, spreading death and desola-
tion over their habitation, that we adhere to the warning voice of
our loved Washington, that comes welling up from the past,
to steer clear of all entangling alliances with foreign nations.

Which were read the first time;                    

On motion of Mr. Rankin,

The rules were suspended, and the said resolutions were read
the second time;                                            

And on the question being taken they were unanimously adopt-
ed.

Mr. Routes presented a petition of 64 citizens of Baltimore
and Howard counties, for the protection of game;

Which was referred to the Howard county delegation.
Mr. Rankin moved that the House adjourn until to-morrow at

Mr. Timmons moved as a substitute that the House adjourn
until this evening, at 8 o'clock;
