and L. F. Amelung, to emancipate certain slaves with permission
to said slaves, when emancipated, to remain in this State;

On motion of Mr. Askew,           

The said bill was made the order of the day for Monday, the
26th instant.                                                           

The order of the day being,

A bill entitled, an act to build a bridge over the river Patapsco
at Ferry Bar;.                                              

Mr. Lester offered the following amendment:                       

Add to end of section 1st, Provided said bridge shall not in any
manner interfere with or obstruct the free and easy navigation of
the Patapsco river, or the middle branch of said river, or in any
wise injure or impair the value of any properly in Baltimore city or
county binding on said river or said middle branch of the Patapsco
or the vicinity thereof respectively; the fact of said obstruction,
interference, injury and damage respectively to be found before
the commencement of said bridge, by inquisition in manner here-
in after provided in section four for the condemnation of land re-
spectively for the abutments or piers of said bridge, and in the
event of injury, damage, obstruction, or interference, or either
found as aforesaid, then the power to construct said bridge is and
shall be null and void;

Pending which,                           

On motion of Mr. Dorsey,

The said bill was made the order of the day for Tuesday, the
26th instant.

The House proceeded with the unfinished business of yester-
day, being                   

A bill entitled, an act authorising the Commissioners of Balti-
more county to levy a tax upon the First Election District of said
county, for the payment of the debt contracted by the Commis-
sioners of Public Schools, under the act of eighteen hundred and
thirty-two, chapter two hundred and eighty-seven;

Mr. Partridge offered the following amendment:

Third line, first section, after the word "county," insert as fol-
lows: "as the same was limited and defined on the first day of
May 1833;"

Which was assented to.                     

Mr. Rankin offered the following amendment;
