IS              JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS              [Jan. 4,

Messrs. Daniel, Merrick, Wickes, Carper, Partridge, on the part
of the House of Delegates.

                        By order,

Thomas H. Kent, of Jos., Clerk.,

The question being on the adoption of the substitute,

It was determined in the affirmative,             

And the Message was sent to the Senate

William Frey, Esquire, member elect from Allegany county,
appeared, qualified, and took his seat.

Franklin Hanway, appointed Committee Clerk, appeared be-
fore the Speaker, and qualified.               ,

On motion of Mr. Lester,

Leave was granted to the Baltimore city and county Delega-
tions to introduce a bill giving power to the Mayor and City
Council of Baltimore to grade and pave the North Avenue from
the Falls Road to the Reistertown Turnpike.

Referred to the Baltimore city and county Delegations.

On motion of Mr. Timmons,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Internal Improve-
ments to bring in a bill to consolidate the Worcester County
Rail Road Company, with the North and South Rail Road Com-
pany of Virginia, the Lewis and Millsborough Rail Road of
Delaware, and the Raritan and Delaware Bay Rail Road Com-
pany of New Jersey.

On motion of Mr. Smith, of Baltimore city,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Lotteries, to report a

bill entitled, an act more effectually to prevent gambling.

Mr! Fiery offered, the following order:                               

Ordered, That the Committee on Insolvency, be instructed to

inquire into the expediency of exempting from execution property

to the amount of three hundred dollars.

Which was adopted.                                               

On motion of Mr. Partridge,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to bring
in a bill relating to the apportionment of rents.

On motion of Mr. Clarke,                                         

Leave was granted the Committee Corporations to introduce a
supplement to the act entitled, an act to incorporate the Maryland
and Delaware Rail Road Company.

Mr. Askew offered the following order:

Ordered, That it be entered upon the Journal, that Doctor
Stubbs, of Cecil county, is detained from his seat by indisposi-
tion.                                                                   

Which was adopted.
