No. 17—"After the word 'passed, ' in line 7 of Section 18,.
add the following: 'Any and every person holding any State
or county office in Baltimore county or Anne Arundel county
and who may be a resident within the territory annexed by
this Act to Baltimore city at the time of the passage of this
Act, shall continue to hold such office until the termination of
his then pending term just as if this Act had not been passed. '"

No. 18—"Strike out all of Section 9 of the printed Bill, down
to and including the word 'fact, ' in line 43 of Section 9 of the
printed Bill, and, in lieu thereof, insert the following:
'Section 9. And be it further enacted, That the Mayor and
City Council of Baltimore shall pay to the Treasurer of
Baltimore county, for the use of said county, such a sum as
shall be ascertained, in the manner hereinafter directed, to be
the fair value to said county, after the passage of this Act, of
all schoolhouses, including the school furniture therein, fire
engine houses, including the fire engines and apparatus used
in connection therewith, and police stations, situate within
the territory which is by this Act annexed from Baltimore
county to Baltimore city, and the said Mayor and City Council
of Baltimore shall pay to the Treasurer of Anne Arundel
county, for the use of said county, such a sum as shall be
ascertained, in the manner hereinafter directed, to be the fair
value to said county, after the passage of this Act, of all
schoolhouses, including the school furniture therein, fire en-
gine houses, including the fire engines and apparatus used in
connection therewith, and police stations, situate within the
territory which is by this Act annexed from Anne Arundel
county to Baltimore city. The amount so to be paid to each
of the said counties, respectively, shall be ascertained, in ac-
cordance with the principle hereinbelow stated, by arbitrators,
one to be appointed by the Mayor of Baltimore city, one to be
appointed by the County Commissioners of Baltimore county,
for the purpose of passing upon the amount to be paid to the
