proved.

PRESENTATION OF PETITIONS, MEMORIALS AND
OTHER PAPERS.

By the President: Petition of Dr. Robert L. Mitchell, Dr.
Hiram Woods, Dr. Albertus Cotton and Dr. Hugh Brent, in
favor of the appropriation to the University of Maryland.
[Which was read and referred to the Committee on Finance. ]

Also a petition of Hans Froelicher, Jr., John B. Gray, Jr.,
George Blakiston, Jr., Hooper S. Miles, Robert W. Maeser
and 150 other students of the Law School of the University
of Maryland, to amend House Bill No. 362, so that all stu-
dents now matriculated in the Department of Law at the
University of Maryland be exempted from its provisions.
[ Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judicial
Proceedings. ]

Also a petition to the General Assembly of Maryland, re-
questing appropriations to the amount of f 11, 500, to the State
Board of Health, for sanitary surveys, for the support of the
Bureau of Communicable Diseases, and for the support of
the Bacteriological Laboratory, in the years 1916 and 1917.

The State Board of Health of Maryland respectfully peti-
tions the General Assembly of Maryland, to include in the
Appropriation Bill for the support of State Government, the
three following items:

(1) A sum of $3, 000 for the year 1916, and a like sum for
1917, for the survey of a county in each year.

(2) A sum of $5, 000 for the year 1916, and a like sum for
1917, for the support of the Bureau of Communicable Diseases.

(3) A sum of $3, 500 for the year 1916, and a like sum for
1917, for the support of the Bacteriological Laboratory.

We attach hereto certain written explanation of these re-
quests, and we respectfully ask that the State Board of Health
