By the President: Senate Bill No. 309, entitled '"An Act to
authorize and direct the Board of Police Commissioners of
Baltimore city to increase the sum of money now paid to
Andrea P. Caldwell, a former policeman and clerk of the
police force of Baltimore city. " [Which was read the first
time and referred to the City Senators. ]

By the President, by request: Senate Bill No. 310, entitled
"An Act authorizing and directing the Police Commissioners
of Baltimore city to pay to Justine F. Shettle, widow of
Daniel W. Shettle, a former lieutenant of the Baltimore City
Police Department, a weekly pension of four dollars. " [Which
was read the first time and referred to the City Senators. ]

By Mr. Norris, by request; Senate Bill No. 311, entitled
"An Act to add three new sections to Article 52 of the Code
of Public Civil Laws of Maryland (Bagby's Code)' title 'Jus-
tice of the Peace, ' sub-title 'Probates, Affidavits and Other In-
struments, ' to follow immediately Section 76 and to be num-
bered and known as Sections 76-A, 76-B and 76-C, requiring
justices of the peace to have a public magisterial impression
seal and making valid in any of the counties of this State and
in the City of Baltimore any probates to any accounts, affi-
davits, acknowledgments of deeds, mortgages and other in-
struments, to be executed by them to the same extent as he
may be required to perform in any county of this State and
City of Baltimore for which he may be appointed, when cer-
tified to under his hand and magisterial seal. " [Which was
read the first time and referred to the Committee on Judicial
Proceedings. ]

By Mr. Legg: Senate Bill No. 312, entitled "An Act to re-
p6al Sections 9, 14, 15, 15 1/2, as amended by Chapter 592 of"
the Acts of 1914; 16, 30, 33, 36, 37, 38, 39, as amended by
Chapter 532 of the Acts of 1912; 40, 41, 60-A, as amended by
Chapter 759 of the Acts of 1914; 61, 79, 80, 81, 90, 91, 134,
141, 146, 147 and 174 of Article 77 of Bagby's Annotated
Code of Public Civil Laws of Maryland, entitled 'Public Edu-
cation, ' and Section 4 of Chapter 173 of the Acts of 1912, sub-
title 'School Attendance'; to repeal and re-enact, with amend-
ments, Sections 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19,
20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, as amended by Chapter 480 of the Acts
of 1914; 26, 27, 28, as amended by Chapter 333 of the Acts
of 1912; 29, 31, 32, and Sections 34, 34-A, 34-B and 34-C, as
