PRESENTATION OF PETITIONS, MEMORIALS AND
OTHER PAPERS.

The President submitted the following petition to the Sen-
ate of Maryland from Mr. Lloyd Odend'Hall, recommending
the establishment of a system of physical education in the
grade and grammer schools of the State, in order to create a
reserve force in accordance with the Bill heretofore introduced
for a commission to consider the subject. [Which was read
and re/erred to the Committee on Militia. ']

Mr. Legg submitted a petition from Oliver King and about
sixty others from Queen Anne's county, asking for the passage
of the Anti-Saloon League Bill. [Which was read and re-
ferred to the Committee on Temperance. ]

Mr. Shepherd submitted the following:

OFFICE OF COMPTROLLER—TREASURY DEPARTMENT,

ANNAPOLIS, MD., February 16, 1916.
To the Honorable the General Assembly of Maryland:

In pursuance of Section 19 of Article 19 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland, I beg to submit herewith a list of sundry
claims against the State, being sums erroneously paid into
the State Treasury, and after having examined the same it is
my pleasure to recommend the passage of the Bill, according
to the list submitted.

[Which was read and referred to the Committee on
Finance. ']

ORDERS.

By Mr. Cooper: Ordered, That whereas, at the request of
the Hon. Hugh A. McMullen, Comptroller, and the Hon. Mur-
ray Vandiver, Treasurer, it is requested that under Section 23
of Article 95 of the Code of Public General Laws, that the
Finance Committee of the Senate and the Ways and Means
Committee of the House, meet at the Safe Deposit and Trust
Company, South street, Baltimore, Md., to examine and count
on February 21, 1916, at 11 A. M., the securities of the State
of Maryland purchased by the Treasurer for the use of the
sinking funds, and to burn all cancelled bonds and certificates
of stock belonging to the overdue debt of the State which was
purchased for the use of the sinking funds, and the said com-
