Mr. Frick, from City Senators, reported favorably, with
amendment,
SENATE BILL No. 604, BY THE PRESIDENT.
SUBJECT: COLLECTOR) OF STATE TAXES—BALTI-
MORE CITY.
Amendment proposed by Mr. Frick: "Strike out all after
the words ''A Bill entitled7 and insert the following: 'An Act
to add a new section to Article 4 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland, entitled "City of Baltimore, " sub-title
"Police Commissioners, " said new section to follow Section
777 of the said Article and to be known as Section 777 1/2;
the said new section providing for the retirement of sergeants
assigned to do clerical duty at police headquarters and at
the Juvenile Court in Baltimore city, upon an amount equal
to half the salary received by them at the time of their re-
tirement.
'Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be added to Article 4 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland, entitled "City of Balti-
more, " sub-title "Police Commissioners, " said new section to
follow Section 777 of said Article and to be known as Section
777 1/2; the said new section providing for the retirement of
sergeants assigned to do clerical duty at police headquarters
and at the Juvenile Court in Baltimore city, upon an amount
equal to half the salary received by them at the time of their
retirement.
'Section 777 1/2. In the event that any of the sergeants as-
signed by the Board of Police Commissioners to do clerical
duty at police headquarters and at the Juvenile Court of Bal-
timore city, as provided for in Section 745 of this sub-division
of this Article, shall, while so assigned, be retired by said
Board under the authority conferred by and in conformity
with Section 777 of this sub-division of this Article, the said
sergeants, or any of them, shall, when so retired, be entitled
to receive out of the fund known and accounted as the Special
Fund, in monthly installments for life, a sum of money equal to
one-half of the salary received by them at the time of their re-
