HOUSE BILLS—FIRST READING.

The President distributed the following message from the
House of Delegates, being House Bill No. 386, entitled "An
Act to prevent all electric railways running between the town
of Laurel, in Prince George's county, Maryland, and the line
of the District of Columbia from charging more than half
fare for children between the ages of six and sixteen riding
on their lines within the State of Maryland, and providing
for the enforcement thereof by making such charge a misde-
meanor. " [Endorsed: "Read the third time and passed by
yeas and nays. "] [Which was read the first time and referred
to the Committee on Corporations. ]

Also House Bill No. 902, entitled "An Act to empower and
direct the County Commissioners of Garrett County to borrow
money on the credit of said county for the purpose of erecting
a high school building in the town of Oakland, and heating,
furnishing and equipping the same, and to purchase or con-
demn real estate for the erection of the same, and for the
purpose of erecting, repairing and improving other public
school buildings in said county, and to issue bonds for the pay-
ment of said money, and to levy taxes upon the assessable prop-
erty of said county to redeem such bonds and to pay the interest
thereon, and to refer such question to the voters of Garrett
county. " [Endorsed: "Read the third time and passed by yeas
and nays. "] [Which was read the first time and referred to
Senators Speicher, Zihlman and Bomberger. ]

Also House Bill No. 815, entitled "An Act to repeal and re-
enact, with amendments, Sections 187 and 189 of Article 23 of
the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, title 'Corpora-
tions, ' sub-title 'Insurance Department. ' " [Endorsed: "Read
the third time and passed by yeas and nays. "] [Which was
read the first time and referred to the Committee on Insurance,
Fidelity, Security and Loan Companies. ]

Also House Bill No. 747, entitled "An Act to repeal and re-
enact, with amendments, Section 45 of Article 17 of Bagby's
Annotated Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, entitled
'Clerks of Courts, ' sub-title 'Clerk of Court of Appeals, ' and
to add thereto a new section to be known as Section 45-A,
and to require the present clerk to give the bond provided for
by this Act at the end of the current year of his term of
office. " [Endorsed: "Read the third time and passed by yeas
and nays. "] [Which was read the first time and referred to
the Committee on Judicial Proceedings. ]
