cant answers both questions in the affirmative, then it shall
be the duty of the said Oscar M. Link, Harry B. Chase and
George B. Castle their successor or successors to allow said
party to cast his ballot, and if either question is answered
in the negative then the party so answering in the negative
either of the above provided questions shall not be allowed
to cast his ballot. The questions provided in this section and
in Section 7 of this Act to be asked the voters who present
themselves to cast their ballot in all elections provided for
in this Charter shall be propounded to each applicant to vote
under oath, by the constituted election officials under the
provisions of this Act; and any voter answering falsely either
of the questions herein provided, to determine his right to
vote, shall be guilty of the crime of perjury, and shall be sub-
ject to the penalties for perjury, provided for by the laws of
the State of Maryland. " [Which was read and adopted. ]

[Which favorable report teas adopted, which was read the
second time. ]

Amendments proposed by Mr. Joy to House Bill No. 236:

"After the last word of the title of the printed Bill, add the
following: 'and also to repeal and re-enact, with amendments,
Section 11 of Chapter 173 of the laws of 1898, entitled "An
Act to repeal Sections 2 and 3 of Chapter 64 of the laws of
Maryland, passed at the Session of 1892, and re-enact Section
1 of Chapter 183 of the laws of Maryland, passed at the Ses-
sion of 1890, and also re-enact Section 11 of Chapter 183 of
the laws of Maryland, passed at the Session of 1890, with
amendments, and to repeal and re-enact, with amendments,
Section 2 of Chapter 183 of the laws of Maryland, passed at
the Session of 1890, entitled 'An Act to create a treasurer for
Calvert county and to provide for the collection of taxes
therein. ' " [Which was read and adopted. ]

"On page 1, line 4, Section 1 of the printed Bill, after the
words 'collection of taxes therein, ' insert the following: 'and
that Section 11 of Chapter 173 of the laws of 1898, entitled
"An. Act to repeal Sections 2 and 3 of Chapter 64 of the laws
of Maryland, passed at the Session of 1892, and re-enact Sec-
tion 1 of Chapter 183 of the laws of Maryland, passed at the
Session of 1890, and also re-enact Section 11 of Chapter 183
