Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect

CHAPTER 109
(House Bill 213)
AN ACT to repeal and reenact, with amendments, sub-section (b)
of Section 24 of Article 89B of the Annotated Code of Maryland,
(1957 Edition), title "State Roads", sub-title "In General", per-
mitting bidders on State Roads Commission contracts to secure
their bid by a cashier's check or treasurer's check DRAWN UPON
A BANK as well as a certified check OF THE BIDDER.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That sub-section (b) of Section 24 of Article 89B of the Annotated
Code of Maryland, (1957 Edition), title "State Roads", sub-title "In
General", be and it is hereby repealed and reenacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:
24.
(b) To all bids over $500,000 there shall be attached [the] a
certified, cashier's or treasurer's check of the bidder, OR A CASH-
IER'S OR TREASURER'S CHECK DRAWN UPON A BANK,
accorading ACCORDING to the schedule above sea SET forth, or he
may, with the approval of the State Roads Commission, accompany
said bid by a bid bond with such surety or sureties, acceptable to the
Commission, in penalties equal to the respective amounts set forth in
the aforegoing schedule, the obligation of which said bond shall be that
the bidder to whom the contract is awarded shall promptly and
properly execute the contract and furnish bond for the completion
of the work provided thereunder, as provided in the specifications.
Sec. 2. And be further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.
