06.03.00.23 Medical Assistance to Aged

General Fund Appropriation for payments to
physicians, dentists, pharmacists, hospitals
and nurses for medical care to indigent and
for medically indigent persons 65 years of age
and over in the counties and Baltimore City
and the costs of administering this program
as recommended by the Departments of
Health and Public Welfare and approved by
the Board of Public Works. These funds
will be available to these Departments by ap-
proved budget amendment in order for the
State to be eligible to receive Federal match-
ing funds for medical assistance to the aged.
All or any portion of this appropriation may
be used for such matching purposes. Of the
total general fund appropriation for this pro-
gram, $446,700 is for payment for services
to residents of Baltimore City, $37,000 is for
payment for services to residents of the
counties and $125,000 for administrative
costs. The above distribution of funds may
be adjusted upon the joint recommendations
of the Departments of Health and Public
Welfare, and the approval of the Governor.
