tions of the county commissioners. The Code shall be deemed and
taken in all the courts of this state and by all justices of the peace
and trial magistrates of the state and by all other public officials of
the state and of any political subdivision thereof to be evidence of
the Public Local Laws and/or ordinances and resolutions of St.
Mary's County in existence at the time of compilation.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.

CHAPTER 580
(House Bill 867)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 700 (k)
of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1960 Supple-
ment), title "Natural Resources", sub-title "Oysters and Clams",
adding certain oyster bars to the list of those which are an excep-
tion to the general law making the use of patent tongs unlawful
for the taking of oysters.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 700 (k) of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1960 Supplement), title "Natural Resources", sub-title "Oysters
and Clams", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows :
700.
(k) It shall be unlawful to use or employ any patent tongs to take
or catch oysters in any of the following waters: Queen Anne's, Talbot,
Dorchester and Kent counties, except on Swann Point Bar, White
Marsh, Gum Spring, Under the Bar and Lighthouse Lump, and except
that on Hickory Thicket Bar the Department of Tidewater Fisheries
may, in its discretion, open or close this bar for patent tonging; or
in the Patuxent River above and north of a straight line joining
Sotterly Wharf and St. Leonards Beacon; or in the tributaries of the
Potomac River in St. Mary's County.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.
