issue serially numbered licenses to persons who operate plants in con-
formance with this sub-title.

223.  The State Board of Health shall from time to time make, re-
vise, or revoke rules and regulations pertaining to the picking, [pro-
cessing,] pasteurization, storing, and selling of crab meat [and
crab-meat products].

224.   No person shall process, store for sale, have in possession
with intent to sell, offer or expose for sale, or sell any crab meat
[, or crab-meat products] which is [or are] adulterated or unwhole-
some, or which if defined in this sub-title does not conform to such
definition, or which was packed, or [processed] pasteurized in viola-
tion of any of the provisions of this sub-title; and the possession of
any such crab meat [or crab-meat products] by any person holding
a license under these sections shall be presumptive evidence of intent
to sell such crab meat [or crab-meat products] for human consump-
tion.

225.  It shall be unlawful for any person to keep for sale any crab
meat at any temperature in excess of fifty degrees Fahrenheit. It
shall be unlawful to keep for sale any frozen crab meat [or frozen
crab-meat products] above five degrees Fahrenheit [, except in those
places where frozen crab meat or frozen crab-meat products are
sold at retail or for consumption on the premises].

226.  All packages of crab meat [or crab-meat products] shall be
plainly labeled or marked (embossed, imprinted, lithographed upon
the can or in such manner as may be approved by the State Board
of Health; stamping with ink shall not be permitted) with (1) the
proper designation of the content of the package, (2) the name and
address of the picking plant [or the processing plant] in which the
product was produced [or processed] or the name and address of
the distributor. Where the name and address of the distributor is
used, it shall be preceded by the words "packed for" or "Distributed
by" followed by the word "distributor",
(3) the presence of any chem-
ical if any is allowed, (4) the license number of the picking plant
preceded by the state abbrevation on the body of the can plainly and
conspicuously marked,
(5) the net weight of the contents, and (6)
such other matter pertinent to the public health as may be required
by the State Board of Health. No label shall bear any false or mis-
leading statement.

227.    Any crab meat [or crab-meat product], whether it comes
from the State of Maryland or from plants outside of the State, shall
comply with the standards of the State Board of Health as provided
by this sub-title. [Those products which do] Crab meat which does
not comply with these sections shall be seized and condemned by
the State Board of Health.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.
